What do we mean by functional training?
Functional fitness is aimed at working the body to optimally move in everyday activities and movements. Common movements might be squatting from sitting down, twisting to reach for something or picking up low/high objects.
Humans have evolved to stand and walk on two feet, to run, to throw (when hunting). Our environment has changed drastically, but our biology hasn’t. We believe that functional training should be based around the movements that humans have evolved to do well.
