Functional training has to be the most overused term in the entire fitness industry. With that being said, you would think more track and field throwing coaches would have a better idea of how to train their athletes for the throwing events. Functional isn’t just exercise selection. Programming, sets, reps, weight selected, work, rest, tempo of the lifts, as well as scheduling training around practice and meets is just as important as the exercises.
